Urgent Care Near Aldershot: 111, A&E and Treatment Centres
Aldershot's own urgent care centre closed in 2024, so here is what to use now and how to check before you travel.
Start with NHS 111 online or by phone for anything urgent that is not life-threatening, and call 999 in an emergency. The nearest A&E is Frimley Park Hospital, Portsmouth Road, Camberley, GU16 7UJ, which has an urgent treatment centre listed with routine hours of 10:00 to 22:00. The Aldershot Urgent Care Centre closed on 26 November 2024.
Urgent care near Aldershot
If you are not sure where to go, start with NHS 111. For a life-threatening emergency, call 999. This page covers what is available locally and links to the official sources. Local services change, so confirm with 111 before you travel.
Life-threatening emergency: call 999
The NHS says 999 is for life-threatening emergencies such as serious road traffic accidents, strokes and heart attacks. A&E is for serious injuries and life-threatening emergencies, and A&E departments are open 24 hours a day, every day. The NHS advises not to drive yourself to A&E: ask someone to drive you or call 999.
Nearest A&E: Frimley Park Hospital
The nearest A&E for Aldershot residents is at Frimley Park Hospital, Portsmouth Road, Frimley, Camberley, Surrey, GU16 7UJ. The hospital's NHS profile lists Accident and emergency (A&E) among its departments, with the main switchboard on 0300 614 5000. The hospital is run by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Use the NHS directions link from the profile and plan your route, because the hospital is not in Aldershot itself.
Urgent treatment centre
An urgent treatment centre (UTC) deals with illnesses and injuries that need prompt care but are not emergencies. The Aldershot Urgent Care Centre at the Aldershot Centre for Health closed on 26 November 2024 after a 12-month pilot, according to announcements by the Wellington Practice and the Border Practice.
The practices said a new Urgent Treatment Centre would open at Frimley Park Hospital, next to the A&E department. The operator, NHUC Same Day Care, lists the Frimley Urgent Treatment Centre at Frimley Park Hospital with routine opening hours of 10:00 to 22:00, seven days a week, and says it sees patients booked in through NHS 111 and walk-ins assessed at the Emergency Department. When the change was announced in 2024, the practices described it as appointment only via NHS 111 and by referral from A&E, so ring 111 first rather than turning up.
Minor injuries
The Wellington Practice's minor injuries page (updated December 2025) points patients to the Minor Injury Unit at Brants Bridge in Bracknell, open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week, with X-ray available Sunday to Friday. The operator's page for the Bracknell Urgent Care Centre, London Road, Bracknell, RG12 9RT (phone 01344 551100), lists minor injuries 8am to 8pm every day, with minor illness appointments Monday to Friday. Bracknell is a drive from Aldershot, so call first.
Out-of-hours GP
When your GP surgery is closed, NHS 111 can direct you to an evening or weekend GP, arrange a callback from a nurse, or send you to an urgent treatment centre. NHUC Same Day Care provides an integrated urgent care service on referral from 111, with a centre at Farnborough Centre for Health, Apollo Rise, Southwood Business Park, Farnborough, GU14 0NP, where out-of-hours appointments are only available through NHS 111. Do not turn up without a referral.
Mental health crisis
The NHS says that if you need urgent help for your mental health, you can use 111 online or call 111 and choose the mental health option. They can tell you the right place to get help and you may be able to speak to a trained mental health professional. Samaritans are on 116 123 and Childline on 0800 1111 for under-19s. If someone's life is at risk, for example after a serious injury or an overdose, call 999 or go to A&E now.
