Schools in Aldershot: Primary, Junior, Infant and Secondary

A plain list of Aldershot's state infant, junior, primary and secondary schools, with how to apply and where to find Ofsted reports.

Aldershot.co Editorial5 October 2026

Aldershot has infant, junior and all-through primary schools plus Alderwood School (ages 4-16) as its Hampshire state secondary. You apply through Hampshire County Council: secondary applications for September 2027 close on 31 October 2026, and reception and infant-to-junior applications close on 15 January 2027. Read inspection reports at reports.ofsted.gov.uk.

Aldershot's state schools are mostly Hampshire County Council community and voluntary controlled schools, plus a few academies and a free school. The list below comes from the Department for Education's Get information about schools register (open establishments with a GU11 or GU12 postcode in Aldershot, local authority Hampshire). It is a list, not a ranking: we do not rate or compare schools here.

State schools in Aldershot

Infant schools take children from age 4 or 5 to 7, junior schools from 7 to 11, and primary schools run the whole 4 to 11 range. Alderwood School is an all-through school for ages 4 to 16, and it is the only state school in the register for GU11/GU12 that teaches secondary-age pupils on a normal admissions route. Rowhill School (alternative provision) and Inclusion School Aldershot (an independent special school) are in the register but are not places you apply for in the usual way.

The table gives the address and age range from the register. Each school's own website is in the list below it, so you can read admissions details, term dates and contact numbers first-hand.

School websites

Ash and Ash Vale also use GU12 postcodes, but the schools there (such as Ash Manor, Shawfield and Holly Lodge) are in Surrey and apply through Surrey County Council, so they are not listed here.

How to apply for a place

For Hampshire schools you apply through Hampshire County Council's school admissions service, even if you are applying to a church school or academy. You name your preferred schools in order. Hampshire's published key dates for the September 2027 main round are:

  • Year 7 (secondary): applications open 7 September 2026 and close at 11.59pm on Saturday 31 October 2026. Offers go out on Monday 1 March 2027.
  • Year R (starting school) and Year 3 (infant to junior transfer): applications open 1 November 2026 and close on 15 January 2027. Offers go out on 16 April 2027.
  • Waiting lists: Year 7 lists are set up on 15 March 2027; infant, primary and junior lists on 30 April 2027.

See Hampshire's key dates, secondary application page and reception application page. Each school's admission policy sets out how places are offered when a school is full, so read the policy for any school you are considering.

If your child is in a service family and you have a posting date, Hampshire publishes a separate service families application process.

Where to read Ofsted reports

Ofsted publishes every inspection report at reports.ofsted.gov.uk. Search by school name, URN (the register above lists each school's URN) or postcode. Read the full report rather than a one-line summary, and check the date of the inspection.

Before you rely on this list

Schools open, merge and change phase. Confirm the school's current status and age range on Get information about schools and on its own website before you apply.

Checked 5 October 2026. Details change, so follow the official links above before you travel.
