Things to Do in Aldershot: Museum, Football, Theatre, Walks

Aldershot is the Home of the British Army, and a lot of what there is to do ties back to that history, alongside theatre, football, green space and a weekly market. Everything below is from an official or venue page.

Aldershot Military Museum

Aldershot Military Museum, Queens Avenue, GU11 2LG, is in historic barrack buildings with military vehicles and tanks, rifles from the 1850s onwards, barrack recreations from the 1890s and 1950s, Victorian shop displays and Samuel Cody aviation history. It is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. Admission is £11 for adults, £10 for concessions, £8 for children aged 5-15 and free for under 5s (as of October 2026). Parking is free on site, with 20 spaces. Phone 01252 314598.

The Wellington Statue

The huge equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington stands on Round Hill. Wikipedia says it was unveiled at Hyde Park Corner in 1846, re-erected at Aldershot in 1885 and restored in 2004. It is on garrison land, so check access before you visit. Rushmoor's heritage trails include a Wellington trail, with free apps and printed booklets at Princes Hall, Aldershot Library and the Military Museum.

Aldershot Town FC at the EBB Stadium

Aldershot Town play at the EBB Stadium on the Recreation Ground, High Street, GU11 1TW. Rushmoor describes the recreation ground as the home of Aldershot Town Football Club. The club's ticket page says tickets can be bought online, through the Fanbase app, by phone on 01252 320211 or at the club shop, and that the Wellington Avenue multi-storey car park is a five-minute walk away. Princes Hall and the West End Centre

Princes Hall (Princes Way, GU11 1NX; box office 01252 329155) hosts touring shows, concerts and family theatre, and a Christmas pantomime: Sleeping Beauty runs from 4 December 2026 to 3 January 2027. The West End Centre (48 Queens Road, GU11 3JD; box office 01252 330040) is a converted Victorian school with live music, comedy, theatre and film, plus courses and exhibitions. It lists free parking.

Aldershot Lido

Aldershot Lido on Guildford Road, GU12 4BP, is a seasonal outdoor pool run by Everyone Active for Rushmoor. It is closed for the autumn and winter. In 2026 it ran from 23 May to 31 August, and 2027 dates are not yet published.

Walks and green space

Brickfields Park (off Boxalls Lane) is a small woodland and pond site with a car park. Rowhill Nature Reserve (Cranmore Lane) is a 55-acre reserve, with its field centre open Sunday and bank holiday afternoons, 2pm to 4.30pm. The Basingstoke Canal has its visitor centre at Mytchett, with a café and free parking. See our parks guide for more.

Aldershot Observatory

The Grade II listed Aldershot Observatory holds an 8-inch refracting telescope built in 1891. It sits inside the garrison, and the Farnham Astronomical Society says visits are by arrangement, so contact the society rather than turning up.

Union Yard and the markets

Union Yard (GU11 1FU) is part of Aldershot town centre regeneration, and Rushmoor has used it for free events such as Summer Fest on 15 August 2026. Aldershot market runs every Thursday and Saturday on Union Street and Wellington Street, 9am to 4pm, with fruit and vegetables, fabrics, clothes, household items and food traders.
